March Stated Communication

Glen Allen lodge held it's March Stated Communication on March 9th at which time the District deputy Grand Master, Rt. Wor. Vernon Stuart Cooke made his Official Visit to our Lodge. After a delicious meal prepared by our own chef, Bro. Jonathan Hughes and his Stewards committee the brethren retired to the Lodge room where our March stated communication was opened in Due and Ancient Form by our Worshipful Master, Worshipful Joseph P. Parker and his Officers. What a night it was with 62 Brethren present. After the flag was presented in the East an alarm at the door signaling the arrival of the District Deputy Grand Master. A special committee appointed by the Worshipful Master consisted of Rt. Wor. Mack T. Ruffin, III and Rt. Wor. Donald L. Kelley to wait on the District Deputy Grand Master where he was subsquently present at the Altar, introduced and escorted to the East where he was introduced to the Brethren,and saluted according to the ancient custom of the craft. Rt.Wor. Cooke refered his remarks after the completion of the business and introductions were made. The Worshipful Master called Wor. William R. Borum, Past Master to the East where he appointed a committee consisting of Rt. Wor. Mack T. Ruffin, III and Bro. Frank E. Mimer, Jr. to present Wor. Carney Mathew Owen at the foot of the East where he received his 50 year Masonic Veterans Award. Wor. Borum made the presentation in an excellent manner. Wor. Bro. Owen responded in a gracious manner for this special honor of laboring in the quarries of Freemasonry for many years. Wor. Bro. Carney made the trip from South Carolina to receive his award. A petition for the Degrees of Freemasonry was read for the first reading. In compliance with Executive Order # 2, 2009-2010 Worshipful Ronald Leroy Carter was recommended for the Office of District deputy Grand Master and Worshipful John Linwood Fetty, Jr. as Alternate for the year 2012.These recommendations will be voted on at the April 13th Stated Communication. Worshipful Leonard Plotkin, Worshipful Master of Fraternal Lodge # 53 request to approch the East where he presented the District Traveling Gavel to the Worshipful Master. The sick report, announcements were made. The Worshipful Master donated a cooker that he purchased for himself to the Lodge as it can be used for our fund raisers and also rented out. the business of the Lodge being completed and introduction made the Worshipful Master turned the Lodge over to the District Deputy Grand Master where he opened his talk on a brief history of Glen Allen Lodge. Made a brief Bio of the Grand Master, Most Worshipful William E. Rorer, Jr. and some of his accomplishments. Informed the Brethren on his goals and charities for the year. The District Deputy Grand Master then proceeded to close the Master Mason Lodge in Ancient Form and Harmony in and excellent manner after reading and approving the minutes at 9:00 P.M.
